Film, animation and design workshops were led over several weeks by professional film makers, animators and designers. The young people involved learned a range of new technical skills and developed their creative and communication skills through developing and producing their own stories and films.
The films explore issues around being in custody and give the participants a voice to express their own thoughts and feelings about being in prison and the factors that led them there. Through the process of making the films, many of the participants discovered talents they never knew they had and a greater sense of confidence in their own abilities.
The films are original, surprising, and compelling – a testament to the creativity and hard work of all the young people involved. We hope they will be a valuable resource – made by young people for young people and those working with them.
